What is the difference between a hotel and a hostel? Look at this comparison of hotels and hostels.
A hotel typically has private rooms while a hostel often has shared dormitory rooms.
A hotel usually has private bathrooms while a hostel commonly has shared bathrooms.
A hotel frequently won't have a kitchen available for guests to use, a hostel may have a kitchen for their guests to use.
A hotel often has a bar or restaurant inside it while a hostel typically does not have a restaurant or bar.
A hotel usually includes the cost of clean linen in the price of the hotel room, but in some hostels you must pay for your own sheets and bedding separately.

hostel比较便宜，是“青年旅馆”。在澳洲，有很多backpackers，到处都是backpackers的accommodation，也是比较便宜，反正比hotel是便宜，还有很多叫YHA（别问我是什么的简写，我到现在也没弄明白）之类的青年旅馆，是连锁性质，如果你有了它的membership，到了哪里的YHA都会打很大的折扣。到了悉尼的city里，尤其是central station附近，有一处地方专供旅行车停靠，在那里你会看到很多背着巨型背包的backpackers，都是年轻人，真佩服外国人那种旅行的劲头。我书包里背两本书就已经叫苦连天了。
