摘要：其实，抽烟也是一种文化。
## Smoking English "吸烟英语"
抽烟也应该算是一种文化吧。我首先坦白，I am a smoker。我可是纳税人，呵呵。
先来几个小词：
tobacco, cigars, cigarettes
这几个词都是关于烟草的词汇，tobacco是统称，Cigars是比较高级的烟草--雪茄，cigarettes就是我们最常见的香烟/卷烟了。
# smokers and non-smokers alike 吸烟与不吸烟者
## butt, fag, weed
-- Is there any distinction between the ways you use them?
-- The words are used in about the same way, but there is sometimes a little difference in the types of people who use them. The word BUTT and FAG, for example, are a little coarse（粗鲁，粗俗，不高雅的，例如coarse manners/coarse language/coarse words/coarse laugher/coarse jokes/coarse tastes等等） than the word WEED. WEED is used by more types of people, but it is used in some groups to mean MARIJUANA CIGARETTE.

-- A salaried man of factory worker might say:" I haven't had a WEED all day." when he returned home. A mechanic might ask his friend "Got a BUTT?" or a student might say, "I need a FAG in the worst way." to mean he wanted a CIGARETTE very much.

这几个小词的区别了解了吧，白领叫WEED，蓝领说BUTT，书生讲FAG，就像流汗这个词一样，靠卖力气的人出汗叫sweat,教授们出的汗就成了perspiration。
## 抽烟（esp.纸烟）是致癌的重要原因，这一点在SLANG中也有表现：比如cigarette的几个别称cancer stick, coffin nail

呵呵，明知是癌棍儿，棺材钉，却还心甘情愿每天三包的挨打、挨钉不误，实在是够讽刺的了。 ## 抽烟需要器具，中国旧时抽大烟用烟枪，不知道这个词在英文里面怎么说的，但是关于香烟相关器具的词也不少。吸烟丝得用烟斗--pipes-- 不过这玩意似乎只有那些上了年纪的老烟棍才用。吸纸烟用烟嘴--cigarette holders--现在多数香烟都自带过滤嘴--filters了。盛烟的烟盒呢叫cigarette cases,打火机--lighters,也有人喜欢用火柴--matches，比如我。烟灰缸叫ashtrays或者干脆简称trays.

这个场景够恐怖的，阴暗的影子里一个矮胖的老妇人在抽着烟斗----停！错了，这是描述的1975年的中国，这老妇人用的可不是烟斗，她用的应该是旱烟袋，就是前些日子放的电视剧《铁嘴铜牙纪晓岚》里纪大烟袋用的那种。

小英子你的哥们可够奢侈的，连烟嘴都是琥珀的--an amber holder,而且烟盒都是带机关的--built-in timer and lock。快坦白，是不是克格勃帮他定制的？这机关内置定时器和锁，不到一定的时间，烟盒锁着打不开，想抽烟也得忍着。
把烟拿出来(extract)才能点烟(light)。点烟，包括用前一支烟屁股点燃后一支烟（chain smokers的习惯动作）。想抽烟而无火，就得借火（spare a match）。
这个，啊。。。呵。。。 我干吗去？还是 :-Q 要紧，有事明天再说：）
